The Corporate Trainee is required to complete a minimum 9-18 month training program.
To gain an understanding of how the company operates as whole. Responsible for developing sales, management, customer service, and professional skills en route to a specialized position at PDI. At the successful completion of the Corporate Training program a full-time position should be attained in Sales, Operations, Purchasing, Showrooms, or another department.
Trainees in the Corporate Trainee Program must be willing to move to a location outside of Lawrenceville at the completion of the program.
Must be able to work at any PDI location for any period of time as assigned.
Must be willing to move within 45 miles of any branch if you are assigned as a manager or assistant manager for that location. Must be flexible to live anywhere within the SE.
Must attend all training sessions during the initial 9-month training period at various PDI and offsite locations. With an additional period of 6 months to 1 year in a specialized area; dependent on progress and experience and decided career path.
Complete all assigned training successfully and in a timely manner.
Gain product knowledge about all products PDI carries and sells.
Learn to provide superior customer service to internal and external customers.
Learn to effectively communicate with different departments and all levels of management.
Be able to navigate and use computer systems PDI employs (Mincron, ADP, Bridge, etc.)
Gather critical job specific knowledge from different employees in different departments.
Gain and provide feedback from Training Manager at regular reviews.
Spend time in Receiving, Shipping, Purchasing, Sales, Showrooms, Accounting, and any other departments deemed necessary for complete training.
Participates as a team player within the organization, focusing on the overall company profitability and customer satisfaction.
Addresses customer and employee satisfaction issues promptly.
Understands and follows all company standard operating procedures and company policies.
College degree required. (prefer 3.0 GPA). Strong people skills; Strong Customer Service and Excellent problem solving skills required. Proficient in Computers (Word, Excel). Wholesale distribution or retail sales experience preferred but not required. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
